STEM Education
In response to a national imperative to prepare students in K-12 for the growing demands in science, technology, engineering, and math, Drs. Chris and NNeka Harrison established the LIFTT-NSBE Jr. Chapter and LIFTT Inc., a non-profit organization, to deliver STEM education services to Bay Area students. LIFTT-NSBE Jr., aka Leaders, Innovators, and Forward Thinkers of Tomorrow, began its youth chapter in Oakland, CA in 2010 with the goal of fulfilling the mission of the National Society of Black Engineers which is to increase the number of culturally-responsible Black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally, and positively impact the community.
As a program of LIFTT Inc., the LIFTT-NSBE Jr. Chapter was run by youth officers under the guidance of its chapter advisors, Dr. Chris Harrison and Dr. NNeka Harrison.

Student participation in the LIFTT-NSBE Jr. Chapter began with general membership in NSBE. LIFTT-NSBE Jr. targeted students between grades 1 through 12. The LIFTT-NSBE Jr. Chapter ended its operations in Spring 2012.
Drs. NNeka and Chris Harrison are currently working on summarizing the 2-year project of the LIFTT-NSBE Jr. Chapter.

School Improvement
Inward Journeys Consulting partnered with Barack Obama Academy, an alternative education middle school in Oakland Unified School District and the Omega Boys Club of San Francisco for the 2010-2011 school year.
